Along the northern shores of the island of Kauai Hawaii, discover the beauty of Tunnels Beach. Approximately a 5-10 minute drive from Hanalei, Tunnels’ 2 mile length of golden sand, tropic palms and ironwood trees creates a sight to behold.

The stunning blue water contains beautiful and mysterious reefs. With these underwater wonders it comes as no surprise that Tunnels is such a popular place for scuba diving and snorkeling.
The dive sites at Tunnels Beach are world renowned, with a wide channel dividing the inner and outer reef filled with coral, tunnels, arches and lava tubes. Many creatures make their home in this stretch of coral reef, from parrot fish, file fish, moray eels, manini, bird wrasse and you never know when you might spot sea turtles.
Note: Never swim into the lava tubes, doing so would put you at risk of becoming stuck. Also, for your own safety, don’t attempt scuba diving without a scuba certificate and the proper instructions.
Just past the outer reef Tunnels Beach turn into a surfer’s heaven. The surf can become very powerful; these waves are not for beginners.

Note: During the winter the north shore of Kauai is hit by huge swells. In these times waves can go over the reef to Tunnels shoreline, making the beach quite dangerous.

There aren’t any facilities or lifeguards on duty at the beach, however approx 1/2 a mile down the shoe is Haena State Park which has: Campsites, showers, restrooms, picnic areas, parking and lifeguards.
Take the time to visit this gorgeous place, spend time relaxing on the warm sand and lounging in the sun at Tunnels Beach Kauai Hawaii.
